Since the USPS® charges more for a mail piece if it is larger and thicker, one of the best ways for an organization to save money is to use a folder/inserter to reconfigure its bigger mail pieces to fit into a letter envelope. The versatility of the M8600 Folder/Inserter is a key feature. It can be configured to run two-, four- or six-feeder stations for maximum production efficiency. With the inclusion of the optional VersaFeeder™ to any of the folder/inserter configurations, you can add an extra station to the system. The high capacity feeders can hold a combined total of 3,050 pieces. With its cascade production feeding, the system will automatically switch from an empty feeder tray to the next full tray without operator intervention. Significantly, the empty feeders can be restocked while the machine is running, offering near limitless operating runs. The integrated envelope hopper holds 500 envelopes, or doubles the capacity to 1,000 with the optional High Capacity Envelope Hopper. On the output side, operator intervention is kept to a minimum thanks to the M8600's ample production capacity by way of its exit catch tray and PowerStacker™ which can hold 500 filled envelopes each. And to further maximize operational efficiency, an optional High Capacity Conveyor Stacker, which holds up to 1,000 pieces, is available.
Features That Make a Difference
The M8600's easy "Fill and Start" feature means you simply load your documents and envelopes and initiate the job. The folder/inserter automatically calculates the size of the documents and sets the correct fold. All job settings and program operations are controlled from a reversible, color touch screen, with an easy-to-read LCD display that prompts your operator. Up to 25 jobs can be programmed and saved in the M8600.
Another feature, “Fill and Mail", allows the M8600 Folder/Inserter to be interfaced with your Hasler digital mailing system. Now your documents can be folded, inserted and metered in one efficient process. Postage rates can be linked to stored jobs on the folder/inserter and recalled automatically. This feature keeps the operator informed of the system status and also provides automatic start/stop functionality for both systems via the interface on the M8600.

The M8600's Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) capability provides unrivaled document security via Hasler's single or unique-in-its-class dual-track OMR reading capability. Optical marks ensure documents are not mismatched when inserted in the envelope, thus eliminating any concern that material will be sent to the wrong addressee. When combined with optional output management software (such as DCS by Hasler) to print the OMR markings on the documents to be inserted, the M8600 can process critical jobs with varying page count precisely and effortlessly.
